For Teens
Care From Your Newport Beach, Ladera Ranch, & San Clemente Orthodontists
At Barkate & Nehi Orthodontics, we are committed to outstanding, professional orthodontic treatment. We have years of experience working with teens, and we have the options that allow your son or daughter to have a straighter smile with as little hassle as possible. We understand the social pressures that come with growing up, and we provide solutions that allow your teen to live a normal life with orthodontics.
When Should Treatment Begin?
When a child reaches 12 years of age, most of the permanent teeth have grown in. This is when parents can begin to notice gaps, poor bites, and crooked teeth. For this reason, most orthodontic treatment begins between 11 and 15 years of age. By beginning treatment at this time, teens have the advantage of a high metabolism, which helps to shorten treatment time and minimize discomfort.
What Are The Benefits Of Orthodontic Treatment For Teens?
Aside from the obvious benefit of having a straighter smile, there are other advantages for teens looking into orthodontic treatment. These include:
Various systems available that work for each individual lifestyle. The most common type is metal braces. We also offer Damon® braces, clear braces, and the Invisalign® system.
Treatment is often shorter during adolescence because teens are having growth spurts. Our orthodontists can take advantage of this time to shape the mouth properly.
There is a high percentage of other teens completing treatment, perhaps making it a little bit easier, socially, to proceed with orthodontics.
Braces can often help to eliminate pain due to an uneven bite or other orthodontic issues that might cause discomfort.
